GaDOE Competitive Grants
A competitive grant is a discretionary grant that is awarded through a process defined by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Periodically, funding is available for GaDOE to award to districts and schools in the form of competitive grants, solidifying our commitment to service and support in a collaborative, innovative environment where students have the resources and tools to succeed and be prepared for life. In an effort to streamline communication and create a consistent application process, GaDOE has a webpage with all competitive grant opportunities in one convenient location. This webpage contains a list of open grants including grant overviews, contact information, due dates, links to RFA documents, links to applications, grants coming soon, and grant award notices. Access and apply for open competitive grants through the navigation bar above or here.
GaDOE Professional Learning Events
Our GaDOE professional learning events catalog, housed in GaDOE Community, contains registration information for upcoming virtual and in-person webinars, workshops, and conferences. On-demand, pre-recorded webinars and by-request opportunities are also available to meet educators' professional learning needs. Most by-request offerings are virtual, both synchronous and asynchronous. Professional learning events are updated weekly, and educational stakeholders are encouraged to visit the site often to review the latest agencywide offerings. GaDOE Conferences and Learning Series
Registration information for the following GaDOE-hosted conferences and virtual learning series can be found in the Professional Learning Events catalog.
3D Science Assessment in the Classroom
Join the GaDOE Science Team for professional learning focused on assessment for science educators. This workshop-style session will engage participants in analyzing and developing three-dimensional science assessments for use in the classroom. Sessions are offered at each RESA location beginning January 10 through February 13, 2024.
English Language Arts (ELA) Standards Launch Tour
Are you curious about the new Georgia’s K-12 English Language Arts (ELA) Standards? District leaders and RESAs are invited to join the GaDOE ELA team at one of our seven events across the state as part of the ELA Standards Launch Tour. The same information will be shared at each event. The morning session will provide an overview of the structural and conceptual shifts in the newly adopted standards (slated for full implementation with updated assessments in 2025-26). Districts are encouraged to send two leaders so they are able to attend both the K-5 and 6-12 afternoon literacy sessions. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the new ELA standards and available resources to begin the training process at the district level. Session dates are available between January 9-19, 2024.
Georgia Literacy Academy
The
Georgia Department of Education is partnering with the Rollins Center for
Language & Literacy to make the Georgia Literacy Academy available
to all K-5 teachers and leaders in the state free of charge. A course manual
for the Georgia Literacy Academy courses, which are available in the Georgia
Learns platform, is available here.
Lead School Social Work Workshop
Elevate your impact as a lead School Social Worker at this workshop exclusively tailored to meet the needs of school district leaders in this critical role. One school social worker per district is invited to attend. In the event that a school district does not have a designated lead School Social Worker, we welcome the participation of a student services professional who plays a pivotal role in supporting the well-being of students in their district. This is an in-person workshop scheduled for Janaury 30, 2024.
